  • Reggie Bush ran a 4.33 at the NFL Draft combine. Devin Hester ran a 4.41. DeSean Jackson ran a 4.35. This was all after several years in college.

Does anybody look at Derrick Green's film and see anything close to this type of speed? I don't, at all.

  • Football speed is very different. We hopefully all get to witness how his translates to college foorball.

  • Also, if I had lust of attributes to choose for a rb....speed would be last

So when you look at his tape what do you see? 4.7? 4.5? It's clear his acceleration is top notch, look at the 2:11 mark of this video

I'm not sure what you see, whatever 40 time looks hella fast on tape

4.5/4.6, probably. I think he's got great speed for his size, and assuming he plays up in the 230-pound range in college, if he comes to Michigan I think he'll resemble what Chris Wells was for Ohio State. Wells was a freakish combination of power and speed, but he didn't run a 4.3 40, either.

The guys I mentioned, Bush, Hester, Jackson, those guys ARE legit 4.3 40 guys, and when they get into the open, it shows. What I see from Green's film isn't a player that will be a threat to break off 80 yard touchdowns by pulling away from DBs. I mean, maybe in the Big Ten, if the conference stays as crappy as it is...

This is all splitting hairs, anyway. Green is an elite talent regardless of his 40 time (which is one of the most overrated stats in football), and we'd be extremely lucky to land him. Seems like all the "insiders" are becoming quite optimistic about U-M's chances, so fingers crossed.

I feel like all the insiders are just trying to stir the pot and find reasons why we get him. I think he could easily be in the 4.45 range. When's the last time we've had a true burner in the back field? I can't think of any off the top of my head maybe Fargas,??

I hear that either Wheatly or Hart will take over as the RB coach once Jackson retires. But those are probably just wishful thinkings and rumors.

  • Wheatley makes a lot of sense. He's been coaching longer than Hart, and has a lot of experience recruiting Michigan. Syracuse is almost always one of the first programs to offer state of Michigan recruits.

Wheatley is a great RB coach. Hart still hasn't proven himself yet as a coach. If FJ were to retire now, I would only offer Wheatley the job and not Hart but in time that may change.

Stealing Sparty's recruits and owning them on the field since 1898

  • Unlike Jackson, Wheatley has interest in being more than just a RB coach down the line. (At least from what I've heard.)

I'm not worried about ND. I think they will have a dismal season next year since they lose almost everyone to graduation and the NFL.

Don't know where everyone gets the idea we are losing everyone. On O we lose our worst OL, Golic, very good center that will be hard to replace, Eifert is gone, Riddick, Wood is most likely gone, Toma but replacement will be improvement. WR's will be much more talented and strength of out O along with Golson. On D Te'o, DE KLM, and S Motta that's all we lose on D.

The luster should have already been off... they still want to go there even if Kiffin does suck.

2012: 7-5 playing in the Sun Bowl
    2011 10-2 not bowl eligible
    2010 : 8-5 not bowl eligible
2009: 9-4 played in Emerald Bowl

SC is SC and will always be a destination due to location, weather, women, and tradition.

  • Mike Farrell tweeted that Chris Fox is out of AA game due to injury. Anyone know what's wrong with the kid?

  • Green has a good combination of size and speed, but I still don't think he has the speed of a Teapenny, Clement, Keith Ford, Kelvin Taylor or the other elite backs in this class. The biggest problem is he appears to shuffle a lot more than he plants and cuts.

I think the OL he is referring to is Lacey from UCLA, but I could be wrong. The 247 home page has quite a few stories regarding OSU. I didn't realize it was quite that bad until I read TRU's post because I usually only come here. Kind of looks like the site is turning more and more into Bucknutt 247.

Todd likes the old school Hoke mentality, but most of the writers here seem to be all over Urban Liar.

    Amazinglyblue78

  • Those idiots have been saying for two weeks they were going to flip Lacy. There done at OL unless they start targeting those low 2 * players. Tbb is getting over whelming with bucknuts but its only because they have a bigger following on here then most other fanbases.

Do you know where he was at?

I'm really wishing I could see his time compared to other backs who attended the event.
