  • Please refresh my memory. Hunt, Reon Dawson and Treadwell ( I am not holding my breath on this one ) are the only January visitors? And does anybody know if Tim Harris, Chris Holmes, Jamieon Moss and Jay-nard Bostwick plan on visiting? Thanks

I know a DT from Florida also, just a minute and I will look it up.

Edit: You already named the DT from Florida, Jay-nard Bostwick.

Pretty sure Treadwell isn't visiting anymore.

Bostwick has a visit set up (for the 18th I think). Last I heard Harris was trying to set something up, but nothing firm. Not sure on the others.

  • I was and still am not an Edwards bandwagoner. I do think he could end up being good just do not see him in the new system. One the otherhand most people were not to excited about Norfleet and he is one of our biggest impact freshman.

I have heard conflicting story's on whether Treadwell is still visiting or not.

One site is saying he is still visiting and another says he is not. I just put him on there because of all believer out there. I wrote him off four month's ago.

  • So .... excuse me if this has been discussed. J. Bostwick is visiting Michigan on Jan. 18th. He has only 2 officials currently scheduled - Michigan and Alabama. He has an offer list that makes you drool.

Anyone hearing what our realistic shot is here? Honestly, I missed this one.

UM chances are low. But he wants to visit and the rest is on the coaches.

The fact we are getting an OV from an elite in the south is a nice complement. He may have a leader, but to give Michigan an OV so late in the cycle provides a great opportunity. He could have chosen many other stud programs on his offer list, but decided on us for one.

I completely agree. Hopefully Mattison can work his magic on him.

The thing is, Bostwick is visiting Alabama on January 11th. Chances are less than 50% that he actually makes it up for his scheduled visit to Ann Arbor the next weekend.

Bama does not have a no visit policy so he may still visit even if he does commit to Bama.

I never understood the Edwards bandwagon. We are trying to move from a team of undersized players who excel in space to a team of road graders who demolish their opponents with brute force. Edwards doesn't fit that and we have far more pressing needs than another specialty player we need to find ways to get on the field. If his last name wasn't Edwards, we wouldn't even be talking about him.

He's also not an elite talent. Look at his offers. Cal, Minnesota, and Iowa

They're showing some interest in Cameron Hunt too. He's scheduled to visit us on January 11 and Oregon the following weekend.

Today in Sam Webb's recruiting roundup he mentioned that there is a very small chance we take 7 OL.

This is absolute BS...not because I dont think its true, but this is only a possibility because we cant land any playmakers at positions more of need. Why cant we get another playmaker instead of a 7th OL? So we essentially would take a 7th OL because we cant get anybody else? How about another WR, DL....not just some under the radar prospect, but someone legit on a national level. It looks like we are dealing with scraps to fill the class up to 27-28 (the last 2-3 spots). I understand that we only have limited choices right now, but that excuse/reality sucks!!! rant

lol just another OL we can add to the "urban left with scraps" thread. does urban wait to see who hoke offers at OL and then watches the kids tape and offers because he can't recruit OL's?

Was actually told tonight that Urbs visited Hunt a few weeks ago when he was out in Cali.

Agree with you for the most part.

Not sure what Hoke And Company Inc. are thinking if this is true.

Maybe he saw how bad the line played this year and wants to grab up all the talent he can and red shirt a few, as well they may not like the other position talent on the board or our chances at them.

Im sure they know whats up.. or at least I hope!!

One counter argument to this about taking a playmaker instead of a 7th OL is the OL recruiting is by far the hardest to get right. You can't really assess how a high school lineman is going to progress relative to how you can assess skill players. If a kid isn't fast in high school, odds are they aren't going to become a burner in college. So you can watch film and know they can get better at catching and route running, and of course get stronger, but the rest is going to be pretty close to what you see in high school.

Offensive lineman in high school are usually in the 260-280lbs range and not all of that is going to be good weight based on a lot of high school strength programs. So in some cases you have to add 50 pounds to a kid's frame to get them to the D1 level and that can have a major impact on how they play. Will they put in the effort needed to add that kind of good weight? Will they still be mobile enough if they add that much weight? Will their footwork/technique suffer? And how long will it take to do that? Craig Roh was eating 5000 calories a day to try to put on weight and was struggling to add 10 pounds.

I don't like the idea of 7 OL in a class, but from that perspective I can understand why they'd consider it. You take 7 hoping 4 of them really pan out to be good, so you just increase the odds that you get the number you need rather than taking 5 knowing you need to hit on 80% of them in order to have a successful class.

  • Not new-thread worthy, but from some other boards it looks like Dymonte Thomas, Ross Douglas, and Kyle Bosch all show up now in the student directory, so the early enrollees are starting to have the last set of admissions paperwork completed in prep for their arrival in early January.

I'm assuming by now they give athletes different private emails to use? Seems like making that info public is asking for trouble from rival fanbases.
