    If they turn down Isaac or Smith because they have Shallman committed as a RB that would be lame.

  • This may be an unpopular opinion but I was not impressed by Henry Poggi's tape. I know that there were a few others who were not impressed but chose to not voice their opinions.

    IMO, he is like Tommy Schutt - as in (grossly) overrated.

    I also had a chance to speak with my contact in Baltimore and he said that Poggi was not impressive in games. He was actually very surprised that Poggi received offers from elite programs.

    He also had a few other things to say but I'll release those tidbits in good time.

    I'm guessing you're talking about Wyatt Shallman. He is much closer to a FB than a RB.

    Moreover, I think DeVeon Smith is too talented to turn away.

    He reminds me of RVB, being highly rated but not overly athletic. Seems like he will be a good run stopper though and will occasionally get to the QB. If any staff can get him to the elite level he has the potential to get to, it's this one.

    Yeah the coaches are recruiting him as a RB so they aren't going to bait him in telling him he is a RB then change their minds. Borges wants him as a Brandon Jacobs type back.

    I wasn't very impressed either. He seemed small and wasn't as dominant as his ranking would suggest.

    However, there is a reason numerous top schools are after him. and there is a reason for his high ranking.

    JC said last week that Poggi would be droping when the newest rankings our released. Don't know if this has happened yet.

    Regardless he is a very good player or else he wouldn't have the offers he does.

  • Just wanted to say that I believe Poggi's coach (I actually think it's his father?) is known for inflating offers. I don't doubt that Poggi has some good offers, but the actual number might be questionable.

  • Well that was annoying, after the Poggi talk I looked up his video and it was 2/3 offensive plays. Looks like if all else fails we could move him to TE/Uback.

    Anyways he looked strong, mean and had a motor. Didn't look super explosive though.

    I felt the same way about his tape but elected to not say anything. I figured the people that have evaluated him know far more than me.

    They aren't recruiting him as a WDE so i'm not that worried about his explosiveness. Would be nice to have though.
