2013 Recruiting Hotlist

  • My favorite is when people talk about recruiting as though they are a coach and are there in the grind everyday. Haha! With that being said as frustrated as some get, it's safe to safe everyone wants LT!

LOL, you've got to be kidding me. I think the coaches are all man enough to not get they're feelings hurt. If they want a kid they're not going to give a rats ass about him tweeting this or that. Recruiting is a tough business, not for the faint of heart or for those who get offended easily. This thread is getting increasingly annoying with people getting their panties in a bunch over a kids recruitment.

A great RB can be rendered useless by an average oline. A great oline can make an average RB look very good.

    tell that to Barry Sanders

You do know that Barry Sanders is the all-time NFL leader for carries ending in negative rushing yards, right?

It's a painting of a Johan Liebert (a psychopath in the mold of Hannibal Lecter) from a Japanese manga named Monster.

Here's what a Pulitzer Prize winner had to say about the manga:

Monster was a good series. I assume you are also a fan of Death Note.

He's also the owner of the best college football season ever, and best RB in NFL history. What he did with the blocking he had is a miracle.

Disagree. Jim Brown and Walter Payton are ahead of him.

Possibly because his offensive line sucked so much, no? But that stat only matters if he doesn't average 5 yards per carry for his career.

Yea, I don't see a young Barry committing to Michigan any time soon. Give me the stud oline and we will be fine at RB.

Actually, that stat does matter because it means that Barry's YPC could've been much higher.

But I'll be more direct: citing Barry Sanders - the exception to the rule - doesn't negate the notion that a great RB can struggle when complemented by a weak OLine.

  • I don't like how Derrick Green has two more scheduled visits after his Michigan trip on October 20th. I have thought for awhile now that if he doesn't commit on his Michigan visit, the chances he comes here are slim...

I am not at "slim" yet. However, I have said repeatedly if he does not commit at the MSU game, then this could go till NSD (IMHO). As he is now scheduling two more visits, decision time starts approaching the holidays. While it is not insurmountable for him to decide between Thanksgiving and X-Mas, I suspect he waits till after the holidays at this point. This puts him in the 30-day window to NSD.

  • Question for those who are more well informed about Ohio football.

What division does Deveon Smith play in? And what is the competition level like?

According to maxpreps.com, Deveon plays in Division 2. I'm not sure about his level of competition but I'd guess it's pretty good considering how talent rich Ohio is.

I know you're pretty high on Deveon, I've seen you comment on him a few times. I am too. I think he's a stud and will have no problems carrying the load on his own. And if Derrick Green came to Michigan, to be honest, I wouldn't be at all surprised if DG can't beat Deveon for the starting job. I like Deveon a lot as well.

I'm on this bandwagon as well. I'm as high on Deveon as anyone. If DG comes that would obviously be a good thing in terms of intrasquad competition and having fresh backs throughout the game, but Deveon is going to carry a load and keep the chains moving all game. People are also overlooking Shallman. There is no reason to think he can't come in and bulldoze over a defender or two. I'm content with our current backs/commits and 2014 prospects, I personally want another WR or DL (DB if Conley says peace)

Shallman will start out on offense, but his upside is at DE.

That's quite possibly what will happen, but there is a reason our coaches offered him as a running back. They want a large body who is athletic and relatively quick to come in on short yardage situations. Shallman could be perfect for that role. I haven't seen enough film on him, but I like what I've heard and until a change is made I'm considering him our version of Alstott.

  • I expect Shallman to remain on offense.
