    I don't see how.

It's strictly my opinion and I will probably be wrong on this but...

I was talking to someone last night and he was working on putting together a roster matrix for Michigan. And according to him, Michigan is capable of pushing this class to 26 depending on how many players are not granted a 5th year.

I'll double check this with him.

Well it's not exactly rocket science, you just need to look at the fact that we have 76 guys on scholarship, 13 guys are graduating.

85 - 76 + 13 = 22 spots available. I think it's reasonable to assume that one of Fitz/Lewan leaves early for the NFL draft, bringing it to 23 spots.

We have nine RS JRs who could not be renewed. They are: Fitz, Gallon, Schofield, Lewan, Washington, C. Gordon, Jones, T. Gordon, and Gibbons. I see three at most that could be un-renewed (?) and that would bring us to 26.

You also have to look at the possibility of walk-ons earning a scholarship. Guys like Brink and Burzynski are looking at serious PT and possible starting roles and could earn themselves a schollie, taking away from the total.

25 is still the best bet IMO.

The only player I can see not getting renewed would be Mike Jones. All of the other players are either starters or in the two deep. The coaches aren't going to want to let depth go.

There's still a lot of time for people not in the two deep to leave between now and next year.

    Lisle In Action During Opener

We have video highlights from last Friday and an interview with Centerville OL Evan Lisle, who is committed to Ohio State.

Damn, that kid is raw. Rawer than LTT.

I'm not that knowledgeable about offensive line play, though, so somebody fill me in: Is that little hop he does on to both feet out of his stance not the worst technique a tackle could have?

Ben Braden looks to have better pass pro technique than this kid.

He has terrible footwork, especially when he is in pass protection. That little hop to get out of his stance is going to kill him when he faces any sort of speed rusher this year and possibly in college if he doesn't get it fixed. The one thing I saw in the highlights that would have me worried the most if I was an OSU fan, is the way he moves his feet when he is engaged with a defender, he crosses his legs up far too much and doesn't set his feet to get a full push on the defender.

At this point, LTT is the far superior prospect. LTT may not have the best technique with his upper body at the moment, but his footwork is actually really good.

If LTT didn't go to a bunch of camps and compete he would still be in the top ten OT's. If I'm not mistaken, Lisle didn't attend any camps

I'd just like to point out that, once again, Bucknuts reveals its idiocy. Evan Lisle is ranked 3rd in the latest Bucknuts 50, AHEAD OF DYMONTE THOMAS.

    Bucknuts, what a joke.

    Bucknuts 50: August 2012 Update

With Ohio high school football season opening up, we update our Bucknuts 50 list of the states top prospects. OSU verbals Cam Burrows and Jalin Marshall lead the way.

    Is Helwagen a hack?

"Lisle (6-5, 280) started his sophomore season at tight end though he moved to tackle at times. Lisle played offensive right tackle during his junior season. Lisle is a tenacious blocker who has good feet."

For one, he doesn't have good feet and even buckeye fans were admitting that under that video. For another, 247 lists Lisle at 260 and from that video he looks a lot closer to that than 280.

    bkp1883

  • Well considering Centerville runs a triple option he should be raw as a pass blocker.

It's not just that, it's his footwork that is worrisome.

247 hasn't adjusted his weight from his junior season. He's probably up around 275 now.

lol it's so much more than that. He's small, he's got awful footwork, bad push off the ball, and he's ugly.

Maybe that last part is opinionated.

He does that flatfooted hop coming out of his stance whether he was going forward or in pass pro. I admit its a bonus if the opponent is reading the RT, but about the fifth time a bigger WDE knocks him on his butt out right off the snap it will start to wear thin.

Not saying he is a bad prospect, however, looks to have a pretty good frame and athleticism. But the technique is not there at all yet.

He should be about where Butt and Taco are - 15-20ish. No way he's an elite prospect.

  • He moves pretty well for his size, but I didn't see much tenacity. He kind of looked like he was just going through the motions. That hop he has out of his stance not only hurts him in pass protection but he loses his drive in run blocking. Several plays in that clip he didn't hit anybody, then when he got hit in the mouth by #39 I believe he didn't look like he was ready for that and he got pushed back into the backfield. He needs quite a bit of work for the third best player in Ohio.

    Amazinglyblue78

  • I finally got around to watching it and was not impressed at all. I did not see him finish one block and as Amazingblue said it just looked like he was going through the motions. Every time I look at a OL highlight film I have to compare it to Kyle Kalis. Kyle finished blocks and made high school defenders look like rag dolls.

  • To start, I'm not sure what the jump start is all about. But I don't see bad footwork at all. He has heavy feet but otherwise looks like he has terrific body , size and control. I would take him on my team. That kid may grow into a terrific tackle.
