#Michigan is the team to beat for #GC 2013 Dorian O'Daniel followed by #Clemson and now possibly #Nebraska

Now if he and Blake can do some work on Mr. Fuller....

Been a fan of his for awhile.

Yeah and this year it is just occurring earlier than last year. It's great though to have the class mostly wrapped up before the season then the coaches don't have to focus on recruiting as much.

It only means that we'll be in on even more elite talent for 2014. Domino effect. Gimme more.

It sucks that our coaches will likely turn away one of McCray, Levenberry, O'Daniel, and Gedeon.

I just can't see our coaches taking 4 LBs in this class even if we are switching to the 3-4. IMO, the only way we take all 4 is if one of them switches to another position (like McCray or Gedeon to TE).

At this rate I'll be disappointed if Hoke doesn't close out your 2013 class by August.

Is McCray offered as an athlete or strictly LB?

It would probably be EJ or O'Daniel that misses out.
I wish McCray wouldn't announce right now. Even if he does commit, no way it sticks if Ohio offers during his senior year. We would then end up with 2 top LBs instead of 3.

I think they end up taking one as an ATH and possibly skipping out on another TE. It all depends on how it shakes out, we could have room for a TE towards the end of the cycle but you never know. I believe that one of us will be very happy with whoever takes the 6th OL spot. I know you would be ecstatic to land Colin McGovern and you know I would be ecstatic to land Ethan Pocic. Both are great OL so it's really splitting hairs on who is the better prospect.

We're not switching to a 3-4 when Mattison is here.

They sorta played one in Baltimore but had a Rush LB on almost every play with Terrell Suggs.

    A 4-3 under looks a little like a 3-4 and that's what we'll have under Mattison, but we won't have a 3-4

It all depends on the personnel we have in place. But I agree I think we stay at the 4-3 for the foreseeable future under Mattison.

IIRC, Mattison has already said that he wants to play a hybrid. It's one of the things he picked up from being DC of the Baltimore Ravens where he ran a 3-4 as the base scheme.

He mentioned that he wanted to swtich seamlessly between a 4-3 and a 3-4 in the midst of a game. It's a trend in the NFL that hasn't recieved as much as attention as the TE craze but defenses have become more multiple in recent years. Hence, versatility is such a premium these days.

Correct and you need a big LB that is able to pass rush to run it. The Steelers can run it to perfection because they can have both James Harrison and Lamarr Woodley either pass rush as effective, maybe even more effectively, than a DE and drop back into coverage.

What we're missing to properly run a 3-4 is the linemen. You need big linemen that strong enough and smart enough to play 2-gaps. We've been recruiting linemen that are much more like the quicker players used to play 1-gap techniques in the 4-3.

Yeah, I could see Ondre being a stud 3-4 DE or NT. Dirty work and not noticed a lot but one of the most athletic guys on the field.

  • Wormley and Godin could be solid 3-4 DE, but the coaches have repeatedly said 4-3 under is the way

Pipkins certainly fit the bill, but who else? No other lineman has seeming shown the ability to play a solid 3-4 NT, plus all the other linemen we recruited look like SDEs/3-techs to me.

Well, BWC has the body for it but if they wanted to go to a 3-4 they would recruit a NT this year and probably would have gone after Day much, much more last year.
