  • Shane could only get hurt from studying too much cause with our OL there will only be leftover body parts of the opposing D-Linemen laying around his feet.

He has the frame to add about 25-30 pounds and be either a SDE or 3 tech DT.

  • It's funny how no one thought David Dawson was overrated until he went back to Cass Tech. Oh well, I probably shouldn't try and rationalize the way bucknutters think.

I don't care about any bucknutters...to me...them and South Carolina fans are the worst to deal with. You should hear gamecock fans down here. They still think they are the real USC lol.

I think he is enamored with all of the schools offering him now and he has legit interest in Michigan, but all that said I doubt he leaves the west coast.

    Passing-Oriented Dual Threat.

If Denard could throw like Malik, he'd be a lock for the Heisman this season.

Zaire definitely has a great looking tape. If I compare his tape to Braxton Miller's Junior year film, Zaire seems to have nicer touch and throws a nicer deep ball. Miller really had no talent whatsoever around him, so its understandable why he threw less and he was less developed at that point, though. Braxton looked slightly better as a runner, but its close. Miller probably is more elusive and Zaire stronger and looks a little faster. Both have good vision.

In response to CWEBB's question, I would be surprised if Marshall sees much time if any at QB at OSU. He's not that well developed as a passer, but easily is the scariest looking runner of any of them. As a result, I'd say that as of now OSU really has no QBs for the class. I can see us taking 2 QBs this year.

My understanding on Zaire and all of the other QB recruits is that their offers are conditional on Meyer and the staff getting to observe them in person. Its a very reasonable request since these highlight videos only show the best plays and don't speak to consistency or decision making skills entirely. As a result, I can understand that need, especially wrt the QB position. The risk is that Zaire gets turned off b/c he's being shown unconditional love elsewhere. I don't think this situation could have happened 3 to 5 years ago, but with the speed classes are filling up these days, the risks are falling on the schools to offer early without ideal information.

  • Thanks for the info Richard.

I'm fond of Malik Zaire's game. I think that he's the rare dual threat QB that can excel at a pro-style offense with a few zone-reads mixed in.

He'd be an excellent get for Meyer. I'm curious to see who Meyer takes as QBs in this class because of how the 2014 class is shaping up.

Ideally, we'd take a dual-threat to complement the Morris who is pro-style but I get the impression that our coaches are looking forward to the 2014 class and planning to take 2 QBs then.

We're gonna run the pro so I don't think they'll be looking at dual threats, I'm probably wrong though.

I hope you are. A QB with the ability to scramble, turn nothing into something, and give the defense one more thing to scheme for and worry about is so absurdly valuable. Obviously you want one that's a little more comfortable under center and a lot better at throwing than Denard, but I'd hate to think that Michigan's gonna be passing on the RG3s of the future because of some rigid idea that we only want "pro-style" QBs.

Thanks, I wasn’t sure how you guys planned on using him. Personally I would like to see him at QB just for the potential to just put up some crazy numbers in Meyers offense (just not against Michigan), but his upside for the Bucks and the NFL is probably higher playing somewhat of a Percy Harvin role.

Just because we are running a pro-style now doesn’t necessarily mean, were restricted to only recruiting statues. Most W.C.O’s prefer a guy with some mobility (like McCoy, McCnabb, Favre, and soon to be RG3). I think Shane falls in to that category as well. I wouldn’t consider him Mike Vick, but he definitely could be considered a dual-threat by some people’s definition like Luck and Rodgers.

  • I think the full story is that Marshall asked Meyer if he could try being a QB role, Meyer said something like we could try you out if you want but made it clear he thought Marshall's future was in a Harvin type of role (Harvin has to be really honored to have a position named after him!) and the level of improvement necessary to wind up being starting QB would be significant. Marshall seems fine with that in the end. That being said, you can see Marshall taking some snaps in the Red Zone and in other special situations. I'd love to see a play where Marshall, Miller and Zaire all are on the field at the same time. That would be really confusing to a defense to say the least.

Yeah, these days "pro style" doesn't necessarily mean John Navarre. Shane has got some wheels and I think he fits the mold of what the coaches will primarily be looking for. They'll want polished passers who can still take off and run quite successfully. Guys like Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck are "pro style" but both have an impressive ability to run. I think the coaches will be looking for that kind of quarterback, which Shane fits perfectly.

I'm not too worried about facing other teams' offense, but more worried about picking up some playmakers to go with Shane Morris. If we get Isaac or Deveon Smith or both, then I think our balance on offense will be tough to compete with. I'm confident in our D recruits and Mattison. Definitely not afraid of any of the dual threat QB's that Meyer is recruiting right now. Malik Zaire is good but I'm not sold on him throwing. He's got a great highlight tape but his WR's are WIDE open. I could be wrong, but I need to see more of this kid. goblue

Isaac is a must get kid and landing Smith too would make an amazing tandem. Get em both!

  • Ohio offered Conley?

I think Conley is the most likely. Really liked his highlights.

Never mind, none of the sites show an offer. I think I was mixing him up with someone else.

Cameron Walker grew up a Michigan fan, first offer, and has family in Michigan.
Chris Hawkins is very excited to visit Michigan, one of his leaders.
Willis wants to visit in the spring/summer.
    Luke was recently offered.
McQuay will visit sometime in the spring.
Tim Harris wants to visit in the next couple of weeks.
Davis wants to take a visit to Michigan as well.
