With the Ross Douglas commitment, the coaches are happy with their DB's and have decided not to spend any more time/energy on recruiting for a position that is no longer a strong need. However, they like Leon enough to give him a few days to get on the train before it leaves the station. If he passes, LT is saved a seat and the last spot will go to the best recruit that fills a more important need (e.g., Green if he wants it). Perhaps they bank the schollie if they don't get exactly what they want.

Exactly... the fact that he was that big at one point usually means that he would be more prone to weight gain, should he slip up for whatever reason.
Not saying that it definitely would happen, but when you're comparing a kid to Trent Richardson... that's a big difference.

Disagree.
The coaches are actively pursuing Green, LT, and Mathis still. If LT is a strong lean as he states, you have one spot as he gets the other. McQuay's position is not a 'strong need', but Green's position is one. I suspect the coaches would make room for LT, Green, and McQuay if all wanted in the '13 class. But ... the coaches decided to test McQuay's interest at this point. McQuay did not blink, and the coaches have a better idea on his commitment status. Dawson stated 2 weeks ago commit watch, and the BBQ was going to be a memorable event. Dawson is closet to Green, and talks to him more than anyone.
I still say this is all peculiar and very coincidental.

I kinda thought DD meant Webb. He very well could of meant Green. Any of DD's friends would be awesome by me.
I kind of find what the coaches told McQuay suspect. I've never heard of the coaches hard balling a kid before and wonder with RD committing if it was a way for McQuay to save face? Just seems strange to me.

Agreed. It is strange. However, the coaches may still want him, but have an idea of a possible commitment soon that could take his spot. They gave an option to commit, in the event another recruit does it this weekend. Green? Only option at this point. The coaches could suspect Green may want to, and offered McQuay once last chance. If Green were to commit, the coaches could say they gave him a chance.
