There is a guy on another site named powalifta. I highly repsect his opinion and what he says about certain kids has seemed to always come to fruition. Way way way back when we thought we were going to get ty, powalifta was telling us that green was a better back for our system and the all around best back he had seen in years. From that point on I had hoped wr got a shot a green and it looks like we do!

My only concern with Green is he seems to go down too easily. He looks scary running the ball, looks like people would be scared to even try and tackle him. But you don't see the bodies of defenders strewn across the field after he runs them over like you see in the video of Smith.

You're splitting hairs, if serious. Green definitely hits the hole lower and faster, probably has faster top end speed, all of which is perfect for our system. Not sure what Isaac does so well that you would prefer him, especially since he didn't want us.

His vision, his combo of power, size, speed and to some degree elusiveness.. Not saying Green doesn't have those things, just imo Isaac is the better RB prospect.

Really? That's great news to hear. Like I said, I'm really wanting Green to be a member of this class, and I think he is a great RB, no doubt about it. I'm just really high on Isaac's potential though. He's got it all imo.

  • Green is taken down by small secondary players way to easily

Comparing him to smith? They are two very diff backs in the same body. Smith doesn't have the speed or moves or vision that green has. But he hits the hole hard and doesn't go down. But green isn't a pansy back by any means and he is solid. It would make a great one two punch that's for sure.

Showerlifta doesn't know sh** about sh**, I can assure you of that. Beyond that, he knows very little about football in general.

    Derrick Green is legit, however.

Apparently you also believe we're going to the 1WR offense and that Seantrel is still on his way to Michigan (amongst countless other bits of absolute BS he's shared through the last few years)

He breaks down film well. Just because he thought we were going to get Henderson I don't think that all his opinions are off. Take everything with a grain of salt

  • He is all kinds of terrible at predictions. Was a running joke on scout while I was there.

  • Well its a good thing no one is making any predictions on when a kid commits.

Isaac is gone so it really doesn't matter if he's better or not. I would add that no one ever seems to touch him on film so he's an unknown with respect to breaking tackles. His offensive scheme always has him in the open field.

Watching the early portions of Green's highlights I can see your concern. But watching the video in its entirety you clearly see Green's ability to get yards after contact. I think Green has to improve his footwork, he doesn't lift his knees as high and his feet do not get too high off the ground but the ceiling is very high because those tendencies are correctable. Smith, love him too, and we'll have a great combo with the two.

Green would be awesome in our system. I think the only knock on him is he's uncomfortable catching the ball. That can be learned though and he's a good size target.

Green silenced those questions about catching the ball at the last few camps he attended.

    ^^^ This ^^^

People might as well be saying they would rather have Marcus Allen or Barry Sanders. Isaac is off the board at this point. And Green is a very, very good RB. Green would be a great add to this class. I hope we can reel him in.

He has done nothing but catch passes from the backfield this summer lol hopefully he has fully addressed that.

There are some recruiting analysts who believe that DeVeon Smith is a better prospect overall than Derrick Green. Bill Greene over at Scout is one of them. With that said, I would galdly take both as their styles compliment eachother very well.

The variance is not crazy but there is variance. Rivals has him as their number one back. Scout at 4, either way he will be good.

Smith rose a bit this summer with people saying he worked on speed and vision. If he has increased his speed he can be a complete back as well. Speed isn't the most important factor as a rb but you also cant be a liability either. I'm happy where we sit at this position now, I'm much happier with green in the class. He looks like a game changed to me.

I just have an odd feeling Derrick Green commits this weekend.

I am thinking this as well. I wish I could find my post from like over a month ago where i predicted we would land Green. I have tried but i just can't find it.

I know what you are talking about, I remember you telling others that Michigan is in better shape than perceived for Green, but it was to no avail. I think the thread was originally about David Dawson or Laquon Treadwell.

Yeah man. I hope the feeling is right about Green this weekend. It's huge that he is going to be here 3 days with his family. I love his game. I think adding him to the bruisers Smith and Shallman, Our RB haul this year will be outstanding.

As I said earlier, the combo of the OL classes and the RBs will be insane.

I agree with this. He doesn't run with near the violence that his frame would allow him to.

I did mention this earlier in the year, and Todd said that his size is more of a recent development that Green may still be learning to use it, so to speak. We will find out this fall, I suppose.
