McQuay, who seemed to be liking the idea of playing Big Time ball over Vandy, may now be forced to make a quicker decision. I think Ross may drop at BBQ and L3 getting shut out

Frankly, I'd take both in that situation. Fitz is very likely not coming back as a fifth year. Lewan could do the same. Frank Clark is a question mark due to his legal situation. And there are a couple of other RS JRs who very easily could not be back. That gets us to 23-24 before even considering that every year there seems to be 1-2 players who decide to transfer for personal reasons such as lack of playing time. If Douglas commits as #23 at the BBQ and Treadwell takes the #24 spot, I think it's very likely we will be able to squeeze in one more later on in the process if it's the right player (e.g. McQuay, Muhammad, Green).

Maybe not complete dismissal, but if he's driving at something like twice the legal limit, suspend him for the season. Redshirt him and let him try to win his spot back next year. Michigan should never be accused of going too lightly on players just to maintain their eligibility, that's not what we do. Let the Jim Tressels of the world cover things up to keep their players eligible for bowl games, we're better than that.

Pretty sure he already used his redshirt?

Well a year suspension is even more of a punishment then. I'd like to see either that or complete dismissal.

McQuay is on the clock IMO ... especially if Douglas has Michigan in the lead after Sunday. I would love to get LM III, but Douglas will work as well. He will probably rise to a low 90s with a solid senior season - from the 90 rating currently at. Is Vandy really in that much consideration for LM III? I suspect .... coaches tell Douglas we have an offer till we get a commitment from someone offered of the position. LM III probably gets notified this week if Douglas may drop, providing him a last opportunity. Or.... maybe Michigan knows already LM III is not coming ... and this is an open door you quickly walk through.

Why do you think this? If he has any confidence in his skills then he knows he will see significant playing time regardless who has committed

Webb and Westphal will decide first. Taking 3 more corners for 2014 is not a good idea.

if its Jabrill it sure is. Westphal could play safety and so could Jabrill. I also think that Stribling could play safety with added weight, maybe even receiver. If three elite corners went to commit you take them and sort it out later. Like i said i think the coaches might even be recruiting Westphal to play safety.

Well our coaches have already shown they don't think that way when they turned down what would of been a 6th OL commit or a 3rd LB commit. Just my opinion but Peppers will not be blue now.

The coaches have also shown they're willing to save a spot for players they deem elite. Levenberry comes to mind.

  • We will take Jabrill if he wants to come. He comes from a HS that has way too much talent. I don't think he'll feel threatened by either Webb or Westphal.

And the great thing about our CB targets for 2013 is that they are all versatile - as in they can play multiple positions at the next level.

Webb can be a slot WR or a CB.
Westphal can be a LB (if he grows into it), a S, or a CB.
Peppers can be a RB, a S, or a CB.

It gives Greg Mattison a lot of options.

Don't forget Jourdan Lewis might be tested at WR as well.

I see your point but i also think the coaches are versatile with the talent they have and think they can get. Ex: i don't think the coaches were even thinking about Douglass until all this PSU stuff happened. They realized our best chance at a good DB is Leon. He could play corner but prob fits more at safety. So they have three corners committed pus Leon who is a safety/corner hypothetically. Now that Douglass fell into our lap and is a true corner, we move Stribling into the safety/corner spot. I know the coaches haven't mentioned that but having someone who is versatile enough to play both positions gives the coaches breathing room if something bad happens at either position. Just my twocents

  • honestly Peppers is probably the best player in the country for 2014 I predict Mattison will turn him into Ed Reed 2.0

  • There has been a great deal of discussion on the boards on whether we would take a few players from psu. This is very hard to answer and know one really knows for sure. These coaches have never been keen on taking jucos and players of the sort, but this is a different set of circumstances all together. I did read from someone who generally knows that if a player was interested at our biggest need going into the season they may consider it. Taking a new player into the locker can pay immediate dividends to depth to the team(DT is position) but it is also not just that easy and may destroy team chemistry and attitudes all around. This should be very interesting going forward.

Anyone know how many commits at this point are planning to be EE's? Seems like its over the limit but I can't really remember what that limit is anyway. Is it a specific number or however many you can fit in before hitting 85?
