Yeah, if the transfers will count against schollies, I don't see us getting anyone. But if they don't count, I think we'd go after them if the players (Robinson, Zettel, etc) are interested.

I actually wonder if the B1G would put any sort of stipulation that kids couldn't transfer elsewhere in the conference? Seems cannibalistic if it becomes open season on another program's players and teams are fighting over transfers. I'm sure for financial reasons the B1G wants PSU to remain as competitive as possible throughout whatever sanctions are there, and letting their current roster fall apart would not help that.

They have to think about what's better for the conference and not just PSU. It would be best to allow them to transfer in conference and not to Alabama, LSU, USC etc. because you know those teams would be licking their chops if they didn't count against the 85 schollie limit.

  • I know you guys like to speculate, as do I, but I highly doubt they simply allow every kid to transfer unless they shut down the football program for a few years. My guess is they would allow the juniors and seniors transfer, but that would be it. We'll find out tomorrow though.

Very true, but I don't buy that whole rumor about not counting against the 85 scholarship limit. If that was the case coaches like Saban could go in to the top 10-15 guys on the roster and tell them all to come to Bama, form a super-team, and win multiple championships. They can't punish every team in the NCAA by giving one team a competitive advantage of having 100 scholarship players.

  • Shane Morris not included in official elite 11. By all non-espn related accounts he threw better than anyone else over the last 3 days. I can't wait to see him on campus.

even at USC they allowed every players to transfer and play immediately I think

Those schools already dont pay much attention to scholarship limits even now .. what makes you think this situation would open up their eyes anymore? blank

The rule was that any player who's eligibility expired during a year in which there was a postseason ban would be allowed to transfer. So for USC it was RS JR, JR, RS SR, and SR year players.

If there was a 4-year ban it would default that anyone could leave since technically all players (except incoming Freshman who could be there 5 years) would fall into that category.

ESPN senior writer tweeted SM "... not a finished product." Really? Who is at this point? SI, 247, Scout all said SM was a top QB this week. You are telling me his classroom activities pulled him down this much?

    Please.

completely ridiculous, I can't remember a single qb (including 5*) that has been a finished product after their junior year of hs, he has all the tools and he continues to improve, seems like every event he's gone to he has performed better than the last. The main knock on him early was the accuracy because of him throwin all fastballs. He won the golden jersey award for accuracy at the elite 11. What more can you ask of the kid? for him to be NFL ready as a hs senior shrug

I am VERY curious to hear what SW says about this during the week. There is more to the story on this one IMO. SM won the accuracy, and a top gun I thought. He finished #1 or 2 in his group most of the competition. I kept reading on tweets 'alot going on behind the scenes', in terms of judges grading the players. This all seems odd to me. Scout has him the #2 QB at it I believe.

    Something odd with this one.

  • Can't throw TDs and win games in the classroom. Something is off about these E11 rankings when everyone watching the stuff on the field say he's at or near the top but he doesn't make the top 11. You'd think on the field would count for more when it's the only thing that matters come gametime

gota be some kinda behind the scenes stuff goin on, no other way a kid that is one of the top performers on the field every day doesn't make the final top group. In the end though we already know what were getting. Shane is definetly the real deal and the elite 11 judges can't change that.

Agreed. Will wait to see what is up. I understand the competition was tough. But ... when all the other recruiting services said SM was a top 2 QB at the event, I start to question the grading scales here.

Is this an event you need to 'fit the mode' to win?

  • Kiel did not make it last year, and Pike did.

    Enough said.

Pretty clear the evaluations do not take into account physical skills at all and are really focused on reads, chalk talk, etc.

    Which is fine.

... which was referenced as a negative for him I believe. If all he has to do is work on reads and chalk talk, I am not concerned. As I have said, let him get to UM where coaches will work on these mental aspects. The physical play cannot be chalked, and he has it.

true they can judge based on whatever they want. In the end i'm very happy that he was one of the top performers on the field, physical ability can't be taught, all those other things can be.

  • Sounds like absolute BS. If he in fact was a top QB every day at the camp on the field then you can't tell me 11 other guys out performed him. Ok, if he didn't do well in the classroom that is fine. However, I'm sure there were kids who excelled in the classroom and didn't do as well on the field. If they weigh one thing that much more than the other then that should be brought up to the kids at the event. But whatev, we all know what kind of kid he is and what he brings. IMO Shane and JT are two of the finest QB's in the country....NO DOUBT.

I'll take the QB who is making the throws and winning games over the guy shining behind the scenes. For all we know, Jack Kennedy could be the brightest football mind on the team this year. However, that doesn't mean he should be starting over Denard or DG.

  • I do think it is funny that he was unleashing dimes all downfield but since the read was for a checkdown he was penalized... Oh well... I don't think any fan in their right mind will knot take him in this class... He will still be a Top2 QB on all 4 major sites when the final rankings are released... Kiel was and he was not in the Elite 11 last year... He's a stud with an A+ attitude... I am sure he will use this as motivation and I feel bad for teams that are in his way... Good for us.

9 am I'm also hearing that PSU transfers WON'T count toward the 85 limit. While this makes me nervous about Urban and Ohio, I wonder what this means for Zettel or other good PSU players who would consider us.

And who dropped that suggestion in the GBOD thread? smoke

+1 we are absolutely getting a physical freak at qb, this kid has a cannon, can make all the throws, is quick and athletic and he's just a great guy. I wouldn't trade morris for anyone else in this class. I am very excited for him to wear a winged helmet and expect great things from him in the future.
