You've still avoided my question, are you a Michigan fan?

Is that even up for debate? Yes, I love Michigan always have always will.

I've heard otherwise, I'm not sure though. I don't follow their recruiting as much.

But seriously, he is the one player that could send this offense into the stratosphere! I would let brenneman have forced prison type sex with me to get him on this team

OK, I'm going to go for a random emoticon

Then why the hell do you post to tRCMB more than here and brag about an OSU commit?

He'd be going to Tennessee if they didn't suck. Tennessee has to have a pretty good season to land him; if they suck he's OSU bound.

Surprised you don't remember him from the old Michigan Thread. Used to post in there a lot.

I highly doubt the NCAA will move fast enough to get sanctions in place before the season. I think any sanctions will affect the 2014 class more than the 2013, but I really don't even think we'll see much of an effect.

From my understanding, NCAA and PSU are currently talking. It's not really a matter of the NCAA acting, it's more of the two entities agreeing to something. I think PSU wants to act quickly and put the matter to rest.

I don't see why they'd self-impose scholarship reductions. This wasn't recruiting related, so taking away future scholarships from student athletes who are also getting an education doesn't seem like a good fit.

The financial penalties will happen, that's the obvious one, especially with civil lawsuits likely on the horizon.

I could also see a bowl ban self-imposed. The argument will constantly be made the cover-up was to protect the PSU brand, and since bowl games promote the brand, self-imposing a ban so you don't get that promotion would fit. It would probably be best to get it out of the way sooner too since the NCAA won't act for 12+ months based on how slow they operate. Give O'Brien a year or two to build his team rather than going to a decent bowl game this year, dealing with people saying they shouldn't be there, and then taking a ban when he gets the team moving in a positive direction.

I also don't see any of the players leaving. They picked PSU when all this was going down, so don't see anything changing that. Might impact a kid like Ferns though in future classes who have time to think things over.

Personally, I think any sanctions on the football team are idiotic. But that's just the direction this stuff has gone. Future scholarships are more of a nominal issue (as Urban has clearly shown us) and not a big deal.

I don't see any sanctions affecting the 2014 recruiting class unless it's a 3+ year bowl ban (I do think self-sanctions will be done by the end of the year).

The whole donation of revenues was openly discussed on a Detroit radio show and really seems like the best action going forward. You punish way to many people invovled with a cancelling of the season(I.e. local vendors, restaraunts, hotels, etc).

I at least, hope you guys survive with minimal action against you. While I hate what happened. Joe pa is dead, the prez is out and you can't punish this years football team. So I hope the core stays put and stands up and says hey this is our school we will fight.

For those that say we want brenneman, well me too but we don't have room for a single player anyways.

    Appreciate the sentiments, man.

I agree that donating money is one of the better actual and PR moves PSU can make.

I think as long as the bowl ban is less than 3 years, we won't have too much damage in recruiting. Just have to see though.

  • I personally hope the whole program get's nuked. And if that train wreck is allowed to continue to play I can only hope it isn't in the BIG. This will be the first year in my life I actually cheer for Ohio to win a game. Honestly not sure how PSU fans continue to be fans of the team. Who gives as sh** about your recruiting. I'd be done if this had happened at UM.

  • I hope this is ok to post .... Farrell from SI:

"Shane Morris, Warren (Mich.) De La Salle: Morris clearly has the biggest arm at the event and loves to show it off. But this is even more encouraging: He is improving his touch and the ball didn't sail on him nearly as frequently as it has in past showcases. His long ball wobbled a bit, but it wasn't too concerning. Morris' ceiling is very, very high."

    confused

I expect punishment but not the death of their football team. Penn State has cooperated and they've removed almost everyone who was guilty. What Sandusky did was abhorrent and Joe Pa as well as the other officials who covered it up definitely made a huge mistake but at the end of the day. However, I'd expect PSU fans to still be fans of the program and the team, the team didn't do any wrongs and you have to applaud the new PSU coaches as well as the recruits they've brought in for staying with the program. Paterno's legacy is certainly tainted and there are a lot of questions that still remain but I'll still enjoy watching Penn State when they're not playing Michigan because at the end of the day, I still like Penn State and they are doing their best to move past this terrible thing. They know that they made mistakes and are cooperating with the NCAA, something that other schools definitely have not done and are still not doing.

Without going into a lot of discussion...I think in the end, PSU will work with the NCAA and self-sanction. Not sure how heavy the sanctions will be, but I'm guessing they'll be relatively nominal. Loss of a few scholarships, 1-2 year bowl ban. I do think donating football revenue to child abuse programs will be a part of it as well.

As to when...there's only the faintest of rumors, but it's possible this might come before the season.

I could see a few defections from our recruiting class. However, unless the penalties are really severe (3-4 year bowl ban, for example), I think the core of the group (Hackenberg, Breneman, Ross Douglas, some others) will stick. They're tight and they already committed with an "us against the world" mentality.

    No Johnson?
