I don't see why they'd self-impose scholarship reductions. This wasn't recruiting related, so taking away future scholarships from student athletes who are also getting an education doesn't seem like a good fit.
The financial penalties will happen, that's the obvious one, especially with civil lawsuits likely on the horizon.
I could also see a bowl ban self-imposed. The argument will constantly be made the cover-up was to protect the PSU brand, and since bowl games promote the brand, self-imposing a ban so you don't get that promotion would fit. It would probably be best to get it out of the way sooner too since the NCAA won't act for 12+ months based on how slow they operate. Give O'Brien a year or two to build his team rather than going to a decent bowl game this year, dealing with people saying they shouldn't be there, and then taking a ban when he gets the team moving in a positive direction.
I also don't see any of the players leaving. They picked PSU when all this was going down, so don't see anything changing that. Might impact a kid like Ferns though in future classes who have time to think things over.

The whole donation of revenues was openly discussed on a Detroit radio show and really seems like the best action going forward. You punish way to many people invovled with a cancelling of the season(I.e. local vendors, restaraunts, hotels, etc).
I at least, hope you guys survive with minimal action against you. While I hate what happened. Joe pa is dead, the prez is out and you can't punish this years football team. So I hope the core stays put and stands up and says hey this is our school we will fight.
For those that say we want brenneman, well me too but we don't have room for a single player anyways.

I personally hope the whole program get's nuked. And if that train wreck is allowed to continue to play I can only hope it isn't in the BIG. This will be the first year in my life I actually cheer for Ohio to win a game. Honestly not sure how PSU fans continue to be fans of the team. Who gives as shit about your recruiting. I'd be done if this had happened at UM.

I hope this is ok to post .... Farrell from SI:
"Shane Morris, Warren (Mich.) De La Salle: Morris clearly has the biggest arm at the event and loves to show it off. But this is even more encouraging: He is improving his touch and the ball didn't sail on him nearly as frequently as it has in past showcases. His long ball wobbled a bit, but it wasn't too concerning. Morris' ceiling is very, very high."

Without going into a lot of discussion...I think in the end, PSU will work with the NCAA and self-sanction. Not sure how heavy the sanctions will be, but I'm guessing they'll be relatively nominal. Loss of a few scholarships, 1-2 year bowl ban. I do think donating football revenue to child abuse programs will be a part of it as well.
As to when...there's only the faintest of rumors, but it's possible this might come before the season.
I could see a few defections from our recruiting class. However, unless the penalties are really severe (3-4 year bowl ban, for example), I think the core of the group (Hackenberg, Breneman, Ross Douglas, some others) will stick. They're tight and they already committed with an "us against the world" mentality.
