Now I don't want to imply that this kid cannot be something great at Michigan. The coaches obviously like him, and therefore I'm glad he came to camp and secured himself a spot.
That said, kids with scouting profiles and offer sheets like Stribling's don't usually turn into productive BCS players. And he plays at the same school as Peter Kalambayi, Riley Furguson, and Uriah LeMay. He would have to try pretty hard to stay under the radar.
Desmond Morgan is a good comparison just to show unlikely this is. He was not expected to have the impact he has had but his recruitment made plenty of sense. Here are some of the differences:
- Morgan was your average bleh 3* to every site by the time he committed. Stribling is ranked as a two star by one site and not rated by a couple others. (Hoke and staff won't be the only guys looking smart, 247 has actually got him significantly higher than everyone else)
- Morgan was offered halfway through the season and didn't commit until December. (Remember, he was recruited by RichRod,)
- Morgan was 6-1", 225lbs and actually predicted to see action his freshman year.
In the end, this staff made a big reach at fairly high cost. It would be pretty remarkable if this kid makes a big impact at Michigan based on his recruiting profile.
Because I hold this staff in high regard, I think Channing may develop into a real good player.

I feel safe in saying that I don't have a clue.
I am interested in hearing what the coaching staff is telling McQuay, though.
And I'm nearing the point where I just want the staff to offer Matt Miller and Berkley Edwards and shutting it down for the cycle. Bring on 2014.
