2013 Recruiting Hotlist

Yep. Saying we lead now may not mean much come NSD for 2014. While I do think we get Mustipher, long way to go.

And frankly...I think I'd be nervous about getting commits for 2014 right now. Unless it's a Shane Morris type of kid, they've got a lot of time to re-think their decision, especially if PSU doesn't do as well in 2012 or 2013 on the field. Look at Georgia - they've got a number of 2014 "commits," all of whom seem to be looking around (Nick Glass, for one).

The only one I'd be comfortable with right now is Marques Little - he loves PSU.

Exactly, hard to get too pumped for 2014 recruits right now. They'll see two more seasons played before singing an LOI, this could be good or bad. Commits and favored recruits could easily lose interest if a team doesn't live up to expectations for two years. This goes for any program.

  • Re: Wormley's height.

Chris revealed in an interview (for a Toledo newspaper?) that Alabama had interest in him but that he told Saban not to waste his time. IIRC, in that same interview Chris said that he was a legitimate 6'7" when he was asked about his height.

Frankly, I'm not worried about Chris because of his athleticism. Now, if he develops a mean streak or a Mike Martin-like tenacity, he'll be playing on Sundays.

He seems to be this year's Drake Harris because he wants to play both basketball and football in college.

I watched his tape. He can be one helluva WR/TE at the next level and beyond.

Moreover, I expect Texas to drop down to about 5 of 6 in 247's team recruiting rankings for 2013.

  • What's a good height for a D End

I think there is a certain range that is preferred: 6'4" - 6'6"

Of course, there are exceptions like Julius Peppers who is frequently listed at 6'7".

But height alone simply is not a sufficient indicator of success. It's a combination of many things.

  • FSU tells WR Alvin Bailey he's their top target.

Armwood WR Alvin Bailey comments on his recent top 13, he talks about his upcoming visit to Florida State and more.

Saw that, also saw the 247 Noles guy saying he doesn't think he'll leave Florida. Although, that was a couple weeks ago when he was still considering four teams in the state.

frank i dont see a problem with a guy being 7 foot tall. the end position doesnt need the leverage a tackle does. those long arms will bat down passes and reach around the otackle to get to the qb. as long as he carries the right weight and has athletic ability he will be fine(which he has). now, if he moves to the three tech, i can see leverage issues.

  • A lot of people don't know about this program Michigan has called M Pact. It's basically where UofM alums come back and interview football players and other student athletes helping you get set up with a job and opportunities for life after sports if you don't go pro. Again it shows that Michigan really cares about you as a person and that was one of the major factors in me choosing them. I also think that there's only going to be 2 or 3 more kids taken in this class, WR, RB, DB.

From an interview K.Bosch did with Hokes Mad Magicians...pretty cool

The problem is that there have been very few human beings in history with the necessary weight *and* athletic ability to play DE at 7' or higher.

I can only think of Shaq.

The taller you are the more injury prone too.

tou che, but it should be looked individually case by case and not"hey that kid is to tall for football". i think wormley will be fine. gholston is a beast at 6'7'' and actually has a thin frame. i guess time will tell here. all we can do is speculate on everything

Which is why Shaq would have been the only exception. lol It’s crazy to think that at like 7’1 and 340 his body didn’t start breaking down until his late thirty’s. One of the greatest athletic specimens of all time.

I've come around to it. MSU and Wisconsin with around 15 scholarships is limited. USCw with 18 available, is limited.

What needs does Michigan still need? A WR? They are still pursuing Treadwell and others. A another WR will be signed. A DE? They are still pursuing several kids, and I believe will sign one more.

Outside of that, all positions are set, an extra RB or DB at this point is a luxury, not a need.

not overall number of scholarships. i meant limited scholarships left maybe 3-4 more. maybe hoke has a real good idea of who's gonna commit. he probably knows that maybe where only in real good position for maybe three guys and the other 6-8 guys are long shots regardless of what they say or what we read on recruiting sites.

The problem is that a scholarship longsnapper is a luxury by definition, and it's an infinitely less luxurious luxury than a 5*/high 4* DB or RB.
