I hope Harris doesnt beat Bailey and commit before him...Harris is a stud, but Bailey is like Secretariat....if u know what I mean.

Michigan has some stiff competition for Harris. Very doubtful that he commits on his visit.

I've seen Wormley (quite recently) and there is no way he's 6'8. Much closer to 6'6.

Also, as a 5-tech SDE that's a fine size. Not too tall. If he shifts to 3-tech DT, he could easily play at 6'7 or even 6'8. It all just depends on if he can get low enough. If he can get the leverage, there's no reason his size would hold him back. Michigan State's Tyler Hoover is starting inside at DT at 6'8 this year.

And I say to MSU, good luck with that 6' 8" DT. There will always be exceptions, but I really don't want to see another 6'8" DT; it's just not ideal for your basic college football player. We saw it with Pat Massey, and he could be decent, but he always struggled with leverage issues.

I have never seen him at 6'8".

i've seen reports as tall as 6'7", who knows how accurate that is. Really makes me think he will be staying at the 5 tech though and not moving inside. I know the positions are interchangeable to some degree but still, 6'7" is definitely the exception for someone in a 3-tech. I was not happy with how that worked out with Massey.

First of all Wormley is 6'6 second of all trust the coaches

But also size isn't always an issue. As much as I dislike Gholston, he had one hell of a year for a true sophomore. I strongly dislike him, but I would be lying to say he isn't good.

If PSU can nail down some of the remaining talent in their own backyard, they're going to have a formidable recruiting class.

We should have a solid/good, but not great class. Foster is unlikely at best - I think he'll end up at Bama. Dorian Johnson is the guy we need - I believe we've got a decent shot when he visits with his mother later this month.

I don't believe Anzalone will come to PSU, but I think we'll come close and make a good push for him. The only other PA prospect we expect to get is David Williams. If we whiff on Dorian Johnson, I do think the PSU coaches will continue to push for McGlinchey - I've maintained for a while now that ND's class will be susceptible to late raids this year.

That said, there's several other good prospects we're in on that aren't in-state. This year we're concentrating on NJ, next year I think we'll hit VA hard (Hand, Brown, Blanding, among others -- not saying we'll get them, just that we'll recruit VA hard).

Honestly, I've been hopeful in comparing our 2012 recruiting class to your 2011 class. I think we're potentially a year behind you guys in recruiting. We can continue to be a year behind you if (and only if) we do well this season. Our schedule sets us up well for a solid 9-10 win season, IMO. Will be interesting to see the recruiting battles between OSU, PSU, and UM during the next few years. I'd really prefer you guys stay out of the east...don't like seeing UM get into NJ, PA, and VA. We need those prospects more than you do at this point.

That's why I said he's not 6'8. He's 6'6. And I think he stays at 5-tech SDE, so height would not be much of a bad thing at all.

Is 2014 setting up to be a good class for you guys? Seems like there's a lot of elite prospects out east from initial reports IIRC. As long as you keep your hands off Peppers, you can clean up over there lol

Who is your favorite commit right now? I'm going to venture a guess and say Adam Brenenman (sp?)

Their QB Hackenburg is also really good. I guarantee we'll hear a lot of Hackenburg to Breneman in the future, a la Brady to Gronk/Hernandez in O'Brien's offense. O'Brien's gotta be happy getting two players like them locked up.

And I agree with you; never seen a credible place report Wormley as anything taller than 6'6". But I don't know if he stays at the 5-tech. Been discussed before, but probably at least one of Godin, Wormley or Strobel will move inside, and all have the potential to fine there. But I could also see Wormley being the best because his frame is massive, and may be able to add the most weight without sacrificing athleticism. I know Strobel was offered by Ohio as a 3-tech, and Godin probably has the closest build to a 3-tech at least right now. Will be something to watch.

But still, the point still stands that I don't want to see another 6'8" DT if we can help it. And if MSU fans think Hoover is going to waltz right into their 3-tech at 6'7"-8" and be just fine, I think they have another thing coming. He's going to be giving up a lot of leverage to 6'3"-5" guards right from the start. And honestly, how do you neutralize Gholston (at least last year)? You run right at him. He struggles with leverage as well, even as an end. He just makes up for it in athleticism during the pass rush, and great backside pursuit with his speed.

2014 is looking pretty good. Haven't heard anything about Peppers on our end. I asked Wiltfong about PSU/Peppers the other day - he said we've been by and he's a target. I guess Peppers just isn't doing the recruiting scene much.

Right now, we lead for Sam Mustipher and Marques Little. We're also in on multiple top QB prospects (DJ Gillins, Drew Barker, Andrew Ford, etc.). Ford is ours if we offer, supposedly. We'll be in on Hand, Brown, and possibly Blanding - like I said, I think we'll be concentrating more on Virginia during the 2014 cycle, but NJ will also be a state we zero in on. The staff is doing work all over the place, as they're moving into the southern states as well, hitting up Georgia hard and working on Florida. We're excited to see what PSU can do down there - so far, the comments have been promising but we obviously need to get visits from these kids.

If you guys get Peppers, that's fine. Marques Little was told he's our top target in the secondary for 2014, and I'm just not expecting to get Peppers at all. Would love it, but haven't read any interest from his end. We'll see though, the staff has done a great job of getting interest from prospects that seem to be out of nowhere. For example, they're apparently picking up interest from RB Ryan Green from Florida, and thinking we might get a visit out of him. I'm not expecting even the visit, but there are plenty of times when things seem to come out of nowhere and it turns out the PSU staff was doing work all along.

Boy, you had to ask. I've found things to like about all our commits. I won't regale you guys (on a Michigan board) with all of them (feel free to stop by the PSU board if you want to talk about them, we won't mind biggrin). I want to say Breneman, but Hackenberg gets the slight nod simply because he was our first commit, and such a HUGE need.

Julius Peppers is 6'7'' 290 plays the same 5 tech that Wormley would. Albert Haynesworth is 6'6''-6'7'' 340 playing 3 tech. Its all about being taught proper technique and using your strengths to their greatest potential. Wormley has not outgrown the position by any means, if anything playing the 5 tech with his size will be an advantage.

Absolutely the fact that he is longer and athletic would make him extraordinary at the "5 tech" outside linebacker. Mario Williams 6'8" 290 #1 pick in the draft.

No offense, but these kinds of arguments never seem to hold much weight for me. Take, for example, Greg Webb, whose family is very close with Eli Woodard's. Thus, OSU fans think Webb is all theirs. Yet he visits PSU and a week or so later commits to us. I also heard arguments from UM fans that Shane Morris was all over Adam Breneman on twitter and was hitting him up hard. The fact is, recruits are all going to be close to each other. But kids, especially elite ones, are going to choose what's best for them, not necessarily the school where they're good buddies with some of the commits. I don't think we'll get Alex Anzalone, despite the fact that he seems especially close to Adam Breneman (he even scheduled his future visit around when Breneman would be on campus). Just how things are.

Mustipher has visited us twice already, and has spoken very highly of us. If you had VIP, you'd be able to read the comments towards the end of the most recent article on Mustipher, which was just before he visited PSU's June 2nd camp. I think his comments would clarify things for you.

I really like McQuay. I would be just as happy to have him as i would Fuller. I watched McQuay's tape and he is the type of player than can elevate a defense from very good to great. To me the real problem is what if both want to commit to Michigan. Can we really take both? Would that mean Treadwell, McQuay, Fuller and Bailey(if Bailey and McQuay are a package deal) as the last 4? No RB or DE.

What a great problem that would be to have!

Michigan's recruiting class has national championship implications...hope to make it up to Ann Arbor to see where I fit in that picture.

^Mustipher via twitter....Guess we will see how his recruitment plays out.

I'm saying those things aren't as big factors as people seem to think. It may play a factor, but my guess is that it won't. I'm not saying Michigan won't be a player, but if they are, it's going to be more because of the coaches than because he's friends with Blake's family.

While we're on the topic of Countess, I seem to recall him being a recruit that PSU was trying to sway, and from the rumors on our end, they came close.

Yep. Saying we lead now may not mean much come NSD for 2014. While I do think we get Mustipher, long way to go.

And frankly...I think I'd be nervous about getting commits for 2014 right now. Unless it's a Shane Morris type of kid, they've got a lot of time to re-think their decision, especially if PSU doesn't do as well in 2012 or 2013 on the field. Look at Georgia - they've got a number of 2014 "commits," all of whom seem to be looking around (Nick Glass, for one).

The only one I'd be comfortable with right now is Marques Little - he loves PSU.
