Then I would switch Braden to LT an LTT to RT, Braden has the frame for it already. Bosch shouldn't be a LT, he's an OG all the way IMO.

Can we play 3 guards. I love Kugler at Center and then Bosch, Dawson and Kalis all at guard. Not enough spots!!!!!!!!!!

I really hope we don't have panic threads starting here on Ty Isaac soon.. Another site out there is already posting things he has tweeted in the last hour to friends about how they need to go with him next time he is in Cali..

Not sure I can deal with work on Monday and a bunch of freak out posts on all the boards.

yeah, have a feeling every Michigan site is gonna be ugly

I've already watched the Deveon Smith junior season highlights this morning, so I'm good.

  • tbh guys...Deveon Smith might be a better overall back than Ty Isaac. I just watched their films back to back twice. Give me your input but this is what I see. Pros and Cons of each.

    Ty Isaac:
Pros: Size, Speed, Catching Ability (not out of backfield), Athleticism, good burst from second tier to third tier, cutback ability, B gap...outside Tackles back.
Cons: Vision, lack of competition, product of offense (wing-t), pad level...all his plays look the same before he gets to the linebackers (inside hand off, OL trap play)

    Deveon Smith:
Pros: Vision, Burst through the hole, patience, Power Runner, Feature back, pad level, blocking, plays in pro style offense, toughness, size, competition, inside Tackles back, great balance
Cons: top end speed, catching out of backfield

    Do I want Isaac? Yes

Is he a must get? Would be if we didn't already have a 4* back

Why? Isaac is a special athlete and can do just about anything you want. Has all the tools to be a great player. However, Deveon is a prototypical back for a pro style offense.

Having Smith is great...having both would be amazing, but we don't NEED both. So no need for a meltdown if we don't land him. Remember we have Fitz for 2 more years if he doesn't leave early. So if we don't land Isaac we have plenty of time to land a top 5 back for 2014 class.

    Give me you feedback.

Ty Isaac is the better back of the two and imo its not even close. Isaac is in the top 50 on 3 sites for a reason.

  • I watch Smith every week..competition is average at best so i wouldnt list it as a pro and then list it as a con for Ty..I would love to have both but DeVeon is going to get his carries no matter what IMO because the kid is talented and he runs with a passion that not many his age can match..My worry on him is same as i had on Fitz when i watched him in HS which came true..that being early injury because of the aggressive running style..Early on Smith would be better off pulling back slightly because he is bulldozing cats in HS but its not wise to early in CFB because the big boys been in a college weight program for a few yrs and those hits will be much bigger..i know some get away with it as MLattimore has at SC but Smiths HS Howland plays in a smaller Div in Ohio and its a huge difference.

Yeah I agree, but I'm pretty sure that ship has sailed. Michigan is an amazing school and a beautiful campus, but its not southern California. Auburn, Alabama, Miami, USC, are all schools that have been in and out of trouble (more than once) since I was a young boy ironically they all have typically strong recruiting classes landing many kids on signing day.

  • Come on now... the Isaac family has done everything the 'right' way so far in terms of being honest, admitting they don't like the process, and stating they want to visit their finalists to get all their questions answered and decide some time before his season. No reason to throw out claims that USC is offering improper benefits, it's insulting to the family and in some degree USC (though they made the bed, so stuck dealing with the fallout from Bush, etc).

I do not know anything about the Isaac family and have no idea the improper benefits they would offer an intercollegiate football player or anyone else for that matter. The offer would come from the school if I understand the process? Lane Kiffin is a snake and USC has a deplorable record littered with violations. In my opinion the coaches word isn't worth the air he uses to form the words, and their program has values that are questionable at best. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Kiffin a coordinator when all the problems occurred with Bush and the rest of that giant heap of censored.

Do we pay attention to peoples resumes anymore?

Yes Kiffin was on the staff when the Bush stuff happened but I'm pretty sure Kiffin name is no where in the NCAA report. Also it seems like the NCAA and Paul Dee are scared out of there ass right now they might regret for hitting SC so hard

I am going to have to disagree. I absolutely love Deveon Smith and think he is very underrated on all 3 sites. Reminds me of Pipkins. He was so underrated at the beginning of last year and the sites are stubborn to move guys up a lot. Pipkins eventually got close to where he deserved to be but we will see if Smith gets there as well.

"He wasn't on the report" If you believe that this stuff was going on and Kiffin had no idea as his coordinator, then I have a nice piece of property you might like in Saskatchewan. Scared, who and why would the NCAA be scared of USC? The NCAA isn't run well enough to be scared of anyone, if they were they would be scared of themselves and the lack of efficiency they go about doing anything with. How about the Tennessee situation? Do you think he could get a job in the SEC?

The NCAA is scared of the McNair lawsuit going to trial. This has been posted on all the SC forums, pretty interesting. achindah93 posts

So I checked out the public docket to see what's going on in this case and even paid a few bucks to get a key court order where the judge ruled on recent discovery motions. The big news is that McNair's lawyer filed a motion to obtain a commission to take Paul Dee's deposition in Florida. This is standard practice when you need to depose an uncooperative witness in another state. The court granted this commission on April 24, so very likely at some point this month the most corrupt administrator in the history of college football will be profusely sweating as he is grilled under oath about his breathtaking hypocrisy and abuse of power.
This development comes on the heels of the NCAA being ordered on 4/19/12 to produce all their internal emails about the Reggie Bush investigation. The NCAA vigorously opposed the production of the emails but lost. Not only that, after they failed to prevent the discovery of their emails, the NCAA tried to get a second bite at the apple by objecting to the courts' written ruling with an attempt to limit the production to only emails that specifically mention Tod McNair and were only between members of the infraction committee. So in other words, if there was, for instance, an email between a member of the staff -- not the committee -- and Lake asking Lake to doctor evidence, the NCAA would be able to withhold that evidence.
The court, in shooting down the NCAA yet again, seemed surprised by the NCAA's brazen request and stated in its ruling that "Restriction of the e-mails to only members of the Committee on Infractions is too limited as the contact by investigators and staff with the subject of Mr. McNair surely was not limited to the Committee."
Speaking as a lawyer, this is the kind of stunt you often see when the other side knows they are sitting on highly incriminating evidence and is trying to do all they can to prevent its disclosure short of criminal obstruction of justice.
No trial date set yet, probably about 6 months out based upon the state of the proceedings.

We do pay attention to resumes, which is why I basically said 'USC made their bed with the Bush stuff so they will have to deal with this reputation.' Enron was a dirty company, but does that mean every person who applied to work there or showed interest in getting a job there was also dirty?

The Isaac family in interviews on other sites have specifically mentioned reading posts on message boards, so just trying to point out here that lumping a family into the "improper benefits" bucket without any knowledge isn't very fair to them.

If he picks USC he might just like them better, doesn't automatically mean there was something shady going on.

Extra practice time (10 minutes or so) is not the same as giving out rides with 20s.

  • I'm kinda surprised the postings on lsaac. To me the rb position is already filled with Isaac being a luxury in a way. He is very good. If he decided on USC over us I think it will be a mistake for him but I will still wish him the best. To me it is no different than Levenberry who picked FSU. As far as I know though Isaac is still not committed and we have a very good chance.

Sadly it did lead to major violations though. While I still think Michigan runs a cleaner ship than just about anyone else, the record is tainted. As much as it infuriates me to hear and say it, our record is no longer spotless. While the circumstances and punishment were certainly less damning than others, the fact remains that it did happen. And it infuriates me.
