Wow very surprising, anyone know why? Although I'm sure Urbs has another defensive lineman in his pocket or something lol.

It's priceless, this way one of the best DE recruits in the midwest in the last few years doesn't get to play for either MSU or OSU! I love it! lol

Couple this with how mad the OSU and MSU fanbases are about Gardner's redshirt being granted and it's shaping up to be another awesome week for the Maize and Blue. thumbsup

They haven't given a reason, but the article quotes "sources" in saying it was an off-the-field issue.

Hmm...off-the-field issues on an Urban Meyer team? Where have I heard that before...?

Tim May (who ever he is) is reporting he is looking to transfer to Lousville. Glad he isn't at msu or osu.

God osu's schedule is such a joke this year. UNBELIEVABLE

Urb will try to sell the "open" spot to Lorenzo Carter, I'm sure. Now, does that mean it'll work? Of course not! hahah. I doubt Carter will sniff anywhere north of Georgia. But that's what good recruiters do. And sometimes he happens to get lucky (see: Vonn Bell).

IRT Pittman: I heard a rumor a week or two ago that MSU staff (take it FWIW being as they're bitter to have lost him in the first place) said he was a bust in the making. Apparently very poor attitude. My guess is he never recovered from the knee injury that sidelined him last year and wants a shot to start elsewhere.

  • Off-the-field = needs more room for new recruits.

Yes, yes it is. At least we can hope for some more balanced schedules when they re-align the divisions.

  • Is it true that Pittman tried to commit to Michigan? Someone on another site mentioned that he did, but I had never heard of this.

I remember some people saying it, but who knows. Possibly. Probably not.

wouldn't Pittman throw urbs under the bus if that was maybe the case? Or is that a unwritten rule players don't do that?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading OSU's and MSU's fan base reaction to the Gardner news. Some classic quotes out there.biggrin

Definitely, when it comes to Urb always feel confident assuming the worst.

Knowing the slimeball Meijer is he probably kicked him off the team to make room for a another recruit. Probably ANOTHER corner lol

No way. They are seriously upset that Gardner got his redshirt?

    Little sparty fan.

In case you didn't think the Big 10 is rigged... Devin Gardner

Just was granted his medical redshirt from his freshman season. That dude was never injured. He was injured with a back problem apparently... But all I remember is that when Tate Forcier was back on the field, Devin moved to the bench.

What's funny is that throughout the whole season whenever Denard would score a TD he'd find Gardner on the sideline and do some jumping 180 chest (back) bump with him.

    Ridiculous.

  • I didn't really see any on the Bucknuts board too upset about it, not much "This is BS" type of stuff...maybe one or two...

I think everyone is in "wait and see" mode for your offense since what we've seen the last 4 years was DRob...Honestly, DRob was a scary dude to defend as he could break one on any play...

    RoboBuckeye

  • There were always rumors swirling about Pittman about 'attitude', one reason I was not upset when Michigan took a pass on him (and no, I have no idea if he tried to commit or not).

I hope the kid finds a place to grow up.

I remember that VH reported Pittman was close to committing to UM, and then his recruitment with UM was slowed down. It was left vague as to whether it was Pittman who slowed it down or the staff. I think UM fans took that and just ran with the whole 'he tried to commit, but we turned him away' thing. Keep in mind, this is all coming from memory two years ago, so don't take it as gospel.

Some are, but my favorite are the contingent that clearly never saw Gardner play and are happy because they believe this means two more years of bad Borges' 'spread' and that Devin only runs around like yakety sax in the backfield and throws arm punts. Also they apparently ignore those pesky stats where Gardner led the B1G in passing efficiency. (Caveat is he couldn't officially qualify to be ranked because you need to play in at least 75 percent of games)

FYI we could quote msucantmakebcs and pretend like that's the prevailing UM opinion too, except it wouldn't be worthwhile. I thought it was a done deal that he was getting the 6th year like 6 months ago so most people really aren't that surprised.
