Awesome interview. He really seems to be embracing the role as a QB and a leader of the team. I think he's going to be a media darling - he's well-spoken, great smile, jokes around, and he says all the right things without having to pause to think about it. I'm really glad we've got someone like him to come in and take over as QB - really puts my mind at ease for the upcoming season.

"@S_Morris12: All the kids who pay thousands of dollars for QB training crack me up..Hard work and dedication will take you a lot further than money will"
Next tweet
"@S_Morris12: But hell if you're blessed to have that kinda money, then by all means spend it. Just saying kids think they need it, and they don't."
I can't tell if it was directly towards Speight. He explains to a person who commented back
"@S_Morris12: @wolverinefolife not at all... Just saying young kids think they need it these days because of what people tell them."

I wouldn't call his statements as dumb, it's an opinion. For one, can anyone say for sure that the margin of improvement bw a HS kid who pays a professional to work on their game vs someone who uses the resources immediately around them is that big that the professional work is indeed worth the money? It's like Kaplan and paying for sat classes. Is that money spent that big of an advantage vs going online and finding exactly what to study for yourself?
Secondly, Shane is going to get a lot of work in college The coaches will tell him exactly what he needs to work on which is likely the same instruction he will get from the professional.
I think Shane's point is valid. The professionals providing their service isn't doing it for charity, it's a business. They are selling their business telling kids they need to work on x, y, and z. This may indeed be true but is a professional needed to rectify the issues? Peyton in football, tiger with his swing coach, Jeter has a batting coach but all of those guys are professionals already with money to spend. They are ready at the top of their profession so the smallest improvement means a lot more to them. Where as with HS kids, they will all benefit greatly from college coaching, getting professional help won't give that much more of an advantage over what they get in college because they simply have so much to learn anyway.

Guess you didn't get a chance to read my explanation. I agree that professionals seek help because the smallest tweak can make differences. But HS going to college, there are no small tweaks, the tweaks are all rather substantial because jumping to college from HS you have a large gap to what you do and dont know and the coaching you are bound to receive.

Shane Morris @S_Morris12 14h The number I'm going to wear at Michigan is awesome, has a lot of history behind it!
Any guesses? Judging by the current Spring roster, the two numbers that jump out to me are 7 (Henne, Henson) and 14 (Griese) in terms of QBs. Or of course 16, but I don't consider Denard as being "history" just yet.
