He is more SS than FS, coverage that way is more On TE if needed vs WR. kovacs played closer to the line thus Gordon was playing centerfield against WR, Wilson has better instincts playing FS I think Gordon moves to strong this yr and Wilson steps up at free.

    Well this post would make sense in response to mine if I said we should of been starting someone over Gordon. Thinking we need an upgrade at safety and saying we have somone better who should be playing are 2 different things.

    my bad Willy...didn't mean to jump all over your ass. Just tired of some people saying how bad Gordon is.....no offense man. You just happened to be the one who replied to my post.

    I got you. I think most of the RR recruits can be upgraded talentwise, only part I was supplementing was I think Gordon was out of position to begin with thus we can't judge whether an upgrade is necessary or not.

    It's all good Moon. I don't think Gordon is bad I just had high expectations for him last year that he didn't live up to in my mind. He kind of leveled off from the year before instead of taking that next step to being a great player. I was expecting that next step. Hopefully it happens this year.

He kind of leveled off from the year before instead of taking that next step to being a great player. I was expecting that next step. Hopefully it happens this year.

    The thing about Gordon and high expectations is I've never really had any for him, because most guys that are going to make a leap like that they usually flash in their younger years. Gordon has never really flashed imo making a big play here or there. I have no problem with Gordon starting and you can definitely win ball games with him, I'm just not getting any excited feelings about him. I hope I'm wrong and that you are right.

  • Once Lewan leaves, the # 77 needs to be put on hold kind of like the # 1 is. There have been some amazing o lineman wear that number. Shouldn't go to just anyone.

    Magnuson or Braden will likely replace Lewan, either of those guys would be worthy, IMO.

    The defense we run doesn't signify a strong or weakside safety, that they both play safety and lign up accordingly with the offensive fornation. What mames this different then any ktber defense with the strong over tje tight end end and fs to cover the receiver side? If you don't fully know, i think we should pull some diagrams of mattisons d and discuss hiw the backend is exactly played. I think we all understand how the 4-3 under ligns up in tne front 7. The weird thing to me is that with a safety (ss/kovacs) came up cloer to the line much much more then gordan, signifying there is a difference in the safeties.

    Maybe the safeties really do play the same, but with the under, mattison preferred kovacs to blitz and that's what dictated him playing closer to the line

    I think the coaches are really high on Braden. Still only spring so we will see but I'm not shocked. Kalis will be a force and the coaches likely wanted to spread the wrath across the line.
