Obviously a backup plan in case Conley goes elsewhere. He has a decent offer list.

  • Thanks Todd! I talked to Hytchye a lot when Michigan initially showed interest in him. He really liked Michigan and wanted an offer badly. After an offer never came, I think Hytchye was a little discouraged and might not think as highly of Michigan now or he is just being a little more cautious this time around. If an offer does come though, I still think Michigan will have a good shot at him.

Yup, sounds like we either end up with Hytchye or Conley. And then McQuay has a spot no matter what if he wants it.

I like Hytchye a lot. Don't think we can afford to wait too much longer to offer him though. He was already bitter about not getting one back in the summer. Hoke & GMatt need to have one more talk with Conley and tell the kid to s*** or get off the pot because we have other prospects that we want to pursue if you're not 100% all in.

  • This kid's offer list certainly belies his rating.

So Conley is the only one standing in the way of a Hytchye offer from Michigan at this point?

Thanks Clint! Good video. I am suprised ESPN is the only one who has him as a 4 star. With 4.38 40 time, he should be up there a little higher w/ this video.

Sounds like the coaches are waiting to see what happens with Conley, yes.

I agree with one of the posters above. If Conley wants to be in, he needs to stop talking about taking visits or just do it. Rather have him take a visit now versus in Jan.

I don't think it's quite so open-and-shut that Hytchye will immediately get an offer if Conley decommits. But he's definitely one of the top candidates for an offer should a spot open up.

Anytime! I agree, Hytchye could be a little underrated and I wouldn't be surprised if we bumped him up to a four-star before our final rankings. 247Sports will update the 2013 rankings a few more times before signing day so he definitely has a chance to move up.

completely agree, if Conley wants to take the visits thats his right, he's only visited Michigan but he needs to make the decision and know that if he does his spot is not reserved. If he's gona go its time for us to move on and put out some offers for the spot. I wouldn't mind adding Hytchye to this class, I like his physical play style and he looks good in man coverage, has nice ball skills and a solid offer list.

I don't think I necessarily agree with the sh!t or get off the pot theory. This is a huge decision for these kids and of course some will waver.

If the coaches didn't feel so strongly about Conley, they would have already offered a replacement DB. Clearly, they feel Conley is extremely talented and worth waiting for. If that is the case, I am fine with it. Now they are just reaching out to people in case he does decommit.

Let's not go all LaQuan Treadwell on Conley just yet.

Completely agree. Lets look at it a different way. If Conley wasn't committed to anyone wouldn't fans want the coaches to continue to recruit him? It's essentially the same thing, just because a kid is committed doesn't mean you stop recruiting him to stay committed. That's why hoke and company went to see their committed kids games and what not. The coaches obviously want Conley in this class, fans need to have more patience and understand that work is still required to keep your top guys. If we just went to plan c for every prospect that didn't commit to us right away or wavered, we would not have a top 5 class right now.

Great post here. While it'd be great if the commits never had any second thoughts, that's not realistic in this day and age. I like how Michigan's coaches are handling this.
