But seriously, IrishImpact, if you buy your own case and component parts, do a little research, and have a set of small phillips-head screwdrivers handy, you can build an equivalent gaming computer for a quarter of the price it would cost you to be pre-assembled for you. If you're willing to spring up to half (say, $1000), you can get a rig that would put most pre-made models to shame. Also, the ability to customize a computer to your specifications without paying any extra assembly or modification fees is invaluable. I invariably install extra RAM in any laptop I get, so if I can install practically any part I want in a rig I'm building, it makes things so much better.

Also, the actual physical layout of your rig makes a huge difference. Pre-made computers are left at factory standard condition a good 90% of the time. As a result, they don't always have the easiest layout inside the case, since most people won't ever open the case to mod anything. For me, I need easy accessibility. Take Crysis, for example. It's a very graphic-intensive game, so what do I do? I install 2 graphics cards. In addition, I have a multi-monitor setup that requires multiple graphics cards to run smoothly, so the ability to easily swap out cards every time I want to upgrade is invaluable. 5 minutes of work vs. disassembling an entire tower? I'll take my model anytime.

That's all on top of the fact that a macbook is a great machine that is simple, fast, lightweight, and convenient to the everyday user. Not sure why PC nerds think it's necessary try to downgrade it because they do stuff on their PC that the average person doesn't do. Then, like you and a couple others said, "I can build one that's betters!" Well, personally I don't want to carry around a giant fucking computer around and would rather just have a laptop that fits all my needs, not something that I can program shit and emulate games and software.

The other stuff you said is all fluff, you can find much better specs on laptops for have the price that will last longer than a Mac.

But let me get this straight, you would rather spend 3x to 4x more on a laptop that a "average person" will do a lot less on, than a much better spec wise computer for less money even though you can do much more with it? But I forgot, they look pretty, so buy buy buy!!
