These stories are not interesting to me at all. If it was guys getting sucked into Ponzi schemes and losing everything or financial advisors stealing their money that would be interesting. Hearing about rich people blowing their money on stupid stuff doesn't trigger any emotion in me. It's the equivalent of a middle-class person filing bankruptcy because they leased 2 BMW X5's and bought a few 80" LED TVs on credit cards and then ran out of money trying to fly their family to Santa Barbara for Christmas.

Every time I see stuff like this or stories about athletes like Dillon Baxter (all the talent in the world, no work ethic) it makes me sick. I'm never going to have as much money as some of these athletes have blown, and yet I'm going to have more than a perfectly comfortable life because I'm not a dumbass.

One of my pet peeves is when people have everything handed to them on a silver platter (athletic talent, good looks, family money, etc.) and they manage to squander it all. When you start on third base, there's no excuse for not making it home.

Yeah, that's always the problem. I've always counseled clients that the #1 angry-wife-response will be "Are you planning on divorcing me at some point? If you love me, you wouldn't ask me to sign that."

To which you should respond: "Unless you're planning on divorcing me at some point, your signature on this piece of paper doesn't matter. I love you, you love me, and that's what matters."

I deal with a number of very high-income earners, so I also tell them that this should be a general litmus test for gold-diggers. If she won't sign the pre-nup, she's after your money. She might still be after your money if she does sign the pre-nup, but if she doesn't sign, she's looking to bail ASAP and take you for as much as she can.
