Michigan will host another fine group of visitors this weekend as the Wolverines gear up for the start of spring practices.
Expected 2013 prospects:
Delano Hill (Detroit, MI/ Cass Tech) The hard-hitting safety has offers from Illinois, Syracuse, and Iowa. Hill hopes to gain more interest from the Wolverines on his visit, as he has yet to receive a whole lot of interest from Michigan. Hill has attended Junior Day at Michigan State. He is slated to visit the Hawkeyes on the 29th of March with teammates Ruben Lile and Laron Taylor.
DeVeon Smith (Warren, OH/ Howland) The Wolverines were the first major offer for the 5-foot-11, 210 pound running back. Schools like Penn State, Ohio State, Purdue, and West Virginia have now thrown their hat in the mix for Smith. This will be the second trip for Smith, who has expressed high praise for Michigan since day one. He will visit Ohio State and Penn State next. A decision could come at any time for the talented back.
Derrick Green (Richmond, VA/ Hermitage) The Virginia native has more than 25 BCS schools to choose from with offers on the table such as Oklahoma, Miami, Ohio State, USC, and Auburn. Green will visit Wisconsin this Saturday, Michigan on Sunday, and Ohio State on Monday. He has already seen Clemson, North Carolina, Ohio State, and North Carolina unofficially. Green is ranked as a four-star prospect by 247Sports with an overall rating of 94. He reports a 4.31 forty at 215 pounds.
Scott Orndoff (Pittsburgh, PA/ Seton LaSalle) A long time Wisconsin commit, Orndoff (6-4, 240) opened his recruitment back up in February. He is still considering Wisconsin as well as Michigan, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and the Virginia Cavaliers. Orndoff has taken in Junior Days at Penn State and Virginia already. As the 15th ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania, Orndoff possesses valuable skills in the passing game.
Henry Poggi (Baltimore, MD/ Gilman) At 6-foot-4 and 255-pounds, Poggi is being recruited along the defensive line and at tight end. Poggi has an impressive offer list with schools like Alabama, Michigan, Auburn, and Ohio State on it. Poggi has been on visits to Stanford and Michigan as well as a Junior Day visit to Tennesee. Poggi checks in at No. 66 in the Top247 as the second best player in the State of Maryland.
A handful of sophmores from local Cass Tech high school will take in a visit to Michigan this weekend. Linebackers William White, Gary Hosey, and Deon Drake will be in attendance along with wide receiver Damon Webb. At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, White could end up being the most heralded out of the group, with interest from Michigan State, Ohio State, Arkansas, and Iowa already. Also expected to be in Ann Arbor is 2014 lineman Brian Allen (Hinsdale, Il/ Hinsdale Central). Allen holds early offers from Michigan State and Iowa. Wolverine defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery heads the recruitment for Michigan.
