Three-star offensive guard Brendan Mahon (Randolph, NJ/ Randolph) received his first scholarship offer on September 1st of last year. Since then Mahon has collected 10 other offers from BCS programs. His two latest offers come from Michigan and Temple University. Wolverine247 caught up with Mahon about his thoughts on Michigan.
“Coach (Curt) Mallory had me call him last week and he said that the staff watched my tape and they were really impressed with the way I play,” said Mahon. “They told me I had a Michigan offer and I was just super excited because Michigan is in the Big Ten and they have such great tradition and history there. I like the Big Ten style of play.”
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Mahon has already visited Rutgers, Penn State, West Virginia, and Connecticut. Mahon plans on making it to a number of other campuses this spring.
“I’m going to visit Michigan for a spring practice, maybe even the spring game,” said Mahon. “I think it would be awesome to play in front of so many people there at the Big House. This spring I want to check out Florida, Miami, and South Florida as well.”
Mahon said there is a possibility he could make an early commitment before his senior year.
“I’m just looking for the best school that is going to develop me as a player and a person,” said Mahon.
Mahon is the ninth ranked offensive guard in the country and the 14th ranked player in New Jersey. He has a 247Sports rating of 88.
