Bingham High in the last couple years has been ranked nationally in the top-25 a couple times, so they are a very solid program. Utah has a really good relationship with Bingham too, most recently getting star RB Harvey Langi. Given Lotulelei's older brother, Star, plays for Utah too, I think it will be a tough pull for Michigan, but hope he gives us a look.

Thanks Dizzo! You can tell he has been coached very well because he has outstanding technique on both sides of the ball. it will definitely be tough to lure him from the local schools but I think he has legitimate interest in Michigan if they end up extending an offer.

        • I like the fact that the coaching staff is being aggressive and going to states that were not on our radar before (Utah, North Carolina, Missouri, etc...). It is tough to pull those West Coast kids to the Midwest but we have to throw our hat in the ring and give it a shot.

Keep up the good work Clint.

Actually Cali kids have no problem leaving the West Coast.. You shouldn't be surprised to land 2/3 kids a year out of Cali. We have averaged around four a year for the past few years..

Agreed. California prospects that don't have an offer from USC are likely to leave the state and go to the school with the biggest name.

I know Notre Dame got 2 for this year's class (Tee Shepherd & Greenberry) but we only got one (Mags) and that was a bummer. We only got 1 each in 2010 (OG) & 2011 (K) class. That will be three classes in a row with just 1 for Michigan.

Matt Wile was the only CA commit last year.

                    Ducksworth,

I just looked and we only got 1 in the 2010 class. We almost got 2 this year but Garnett bailed on us. Can we effectively pull more than 1 per year from Cali? I know Coach Funk, Coach Heck & DC Mattison are working MUCH HARDER than RichRod's coaches ever dreamed of.

Garnett isn't from cali but he is from the west. I think with tight-ends coach Dan Feringo's California connections that Michigan will start to make a bigger impact on the west coast.

Correct....state of Washington. The Mags relationship had me thinking Cali.

This will be the 2nd full year our staff is recruiting and the payoff will start to happen. Shane Morris thinks this class (2013) will be a Top 5 class and we have got off to a good start.

Where does Coach Feringo come from?

Feringo is from San Francisco and has been tight ends coach at Cal, USC, Oregon State, and San Diego State.
