Michigan's Ten Most Wanted

As Michigan moves towards the BBQ at the Big House, Wolverine247 looks at some of Michgan's top targets left on the board. Considering factors such as need at the position, Michigan's chances at landing the prospect, as well as the player’s skill set, we give you the latest edition of Michigan’s ten most wanted in the 2014 class.

Malik McDowell is an important in-state recruit still on the board for Michigan.

1. Da’Shawn Hand (Woodbridge, VA/ Woodbridge)

The nations top overall prospect in 2014, Hand said he plans to decide before the holidays in December. Michigan, Alabama, and Florida make up his top three with LSU and USC still in the picture. Hand’s crystal ball says Michigan has a 56% chance to land him.

2. Malik McDowell (Detroit, MI/ Loyola)

McDowell has been awfully quiet in terms of his recruitment lately. Michigan certainly appears to be the frontrunner with Michigan State also in the mix. McDowell’s crystal ball reads Michigan 100%.

3. Leonard Fournette (New Orleans, LA/ St. Augustine)

Fournette is considered a long shot for Michigan but if he does indeed make it to Ann Arbor, as he plans to later this month, who knows what could happen. LSU and Alabama are the perceived leaders. LSU is listed as having a 90% chance to land Fournette according to his crystal ball.

4. Adoree’ Jackson (Gardena, CA/ Serra)

The big time playmaker, Jackson has Michigan in his top group of schools, along with Florida, USC, Florida State, Notre Dame, UCLA, and LSU. There is a possibility Jackson could make it to the BBQ later this month. Jackson’s crystal ball reads 79% USC, and 21% Florida.

5. John “JuJu” Smith (Long beach, CA/ Poly)

JuJu Smith is another touted west coast prospect that Michgan has been involved with for a long time. Smith said that Michigan is one of the five programs he could see himself at in the end. He plans to officially visit Michigan when they take on the Buckeyes. Ole Miss, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Ohio State are the other programs still in the mix.

6. Parrker Westphal (Bolingbrook, IL/ Bolingbrook)

The race for Westphal’s signature has tightened but Michigan is still in the thick of it, with Arizona State, Vanderbilt, and Northwestern as the other schools he is considering. Westphal hopes to make a decision before his senior season starts. His crystal ball still reads Michigan 100%.

7. Joe Mixon (Oakley, CA/ Freedom)

Mixon has official visits planned to planned to Georgia and Oklahoma but says that Michigan could also get one as well. Mixon will unofficially visit Wisconsin this month and hopes to check out Michigan while in the Midwest. Other schools in contention are Ohio State, Oregon State, Texas A&M.

8. Kalen Ballage (Peyton, CO/ Freedom)

Ballage hasn’t made many big moves in his recruitment yet but plans to name a top five he will officially visit. Michigan, Nebraska, Boise State, and Arizona State appear to be the programs with the best chance.

9. Montae Nicholson (Monroeville, PA/ Gateway)

Things are looking good for Michigan and Nicholson, as the four-star prospect plans to be at the BBQ and also knows he will take an official visit to Ann Arbor for the Notre Dame game. Florida State and Pittsburgh are the other two schools in the mix.

10. Garrett Dickerson (Bergen, NJ/ Catholic)

The four-star athlete, Dickerson has a top three of Stanford, Michigan, and Northwestern. Academics are the key for Dickerson, who is now being recruited by Michigan as a defensive lineman after the Ian Bunting commit. Dickerson wants to take official visits to all three programs before making a decision.
