McGary to Michigan

Michigan landed its biggest basketball commitment in years when Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy center Mitch McGary picked the Wolverines over Duke and Florida.

“Next fall, I’m going to Ann Arbor, Michigan and going to be a Wolverine,” McGary announced on ESPNU.

McGary said his trust in the Michigan coaching staff was the reason why he picked the Wolverines.

A five-star recruit, McGary is ranked No. 4 overall in the 247Sports and PrepStars Top100 and is expected to make an immediate impact for John Beilein and the Wolverines.

“He has the body and aggressive style of back to the basket, bruiser and true center, but he combines that with legitimate face up forward skills,” said Rob Harrington of Prepstars. “Players have a hard time figuring him out. He can be a power player, but can also hit the 15-footer.”

McGary joins Glenn Robinson III and Nick Stauskas as commitments for Michigan's Class of 2012.
