    • I thought that USC could only take 18 and that is what they currently have. What is the deal Steve? Will they not honor a current committ. After Kiffen took the walk-on schollie and gave it to a convicted felon, this must be how they plan to keep adding.

Wow, why so concerned about the intricacies of our sanctions by the NCAA? Just recruit your ass off and don't worry about what the other schools are doing. U are Michigan, so be Michigan and don't worry about competitors.
That said, even Trojans are not sure exactly how the numbers are going to work out. We take shots all the time from people like you who think Kiff just rips away schollies from walk-ons. All walk-ons at USC are awarded schollies with the understanding that under these sanctions, if taking a schollie back becomes necessary, the program will take it. All walk-ons know whats up during this time. And U do know that our punter just earned a schollie the other week, right? So Kiffin aint all that bad.

Actually, he isn't a Michigan fan.

And why are you so concerned? Just continue to pay players, pull schollies from walk-ons... you're USCw.

Just because Kiffin tells them it might happen, it doesn't make it less slimy.

You had a walk-on's scholly ripped for a guy who was in jail for like a year, and now you're recruiting kids with no spot left for them, which means kicking somebody else to the curb.

You're on a UM board btw.. so don't come over here asking why we're so concerned.

I'm a Michigan fan too, hence I always keep up with the wolverines. Lived in Ann arbor for 5 years and got a degree from UM, so I love to see what is going on there. So AS A WOLVERINE AND A TROJAN, I am concerned of. Both teams.
U say rip schollies and that USC continues to recruit while we have no more spots. So, u r an insider and I is this, right? U know exactly what the situation is, who may be I ineligible, who may grey shirt, who may have left the team for whatever other reason, right? U r soo sure that we r right at the sanctioned limit, right?
As I said in my first post, Trojans are not sure of the math yet, we got eligibility issues (eg starting cb left team bc of grades 2 wks ago). So u don't know, we don't know, and the football staff does not explain it till NSD.
All this slime stuff, yeah, kiff was not cool at tenn. but he hasn't done bad stuff while at USC. Most haters hate bc of his past, not bc what he has done at SC. A walk on lost a schollies, knowing fully the conditions and circumstances. But u I is what, another walk on earned a schollie too. Kiff may not be the best guy, but he ain't all that slimy either.
And I understand the down votes, u will prolly down Vote It's this post too bc I am defending kiff.

Pulling scholarships from walk-ons for an ex-con who just got back into the free world? That shows terrible integrity.

Do you think that would fly at The University of Michigan?

Just wondering from which school your morals are derived from?

I dont agree with Kiff's call. But I dont know all the details either. I do have faith in Pat Haden tho, and Haden signed off on it. Again, I dont have all the details behind it, and I dont think I would have if i was the head coach.
And, dont act like UM dont have any criminals playing football.
My morals are fine: served me well at both USC and in Ann Arbor. MAny HCs in the SEC and elsewhere do much worse, but of course we dont talk much about that. USC and Kiffin gets all the attention.

We should say anything about an ex con. I will see what happens with Clark.

Clark did not spend a year in jail nor was he sentenced to two years, and then walk out into a scholarship.

I don't think admissions would ever allow that to happen at Michigan.

edit: I definitely would not be a fan of that mode of operation.

I wonder if his parole officer will be hanging out in the locker room. You know with their track record he has tickets for sure.

Just wondering how they plan on taking more than 18 or if I am off on there limit. As for taking a walk-on's schollie it's one thing to do it for a PSU kid who wants a shot somewhere else. It's another to take one away from kid to give it to a convicted felon, 3 days out of jail. Sends a great message.

Exactly, the whole football isn't suppose to run the university spiel we got from Emmert not but a couple of months ago.

I see that is causing major changes at USC.

To answer your question: Yes, I do think that would fly at The University of Michigan.

Michigan handles walk-ons the same way. Every player under scholarship at Michigan is taking up a scholarship that could go to a walk-on. For example, Toussaint who pled guilty to a DUI is under scholarship, the same as Vehikite (USC) who pled no contest to a DUI.

The walk-ons at both schools are awarded the scholarship scraps. Right now, there is a walk-on at Michigan without a scholarship because Hoke is keeping Toussaint on scholarship.

I don't think we would redact a scholly once its awarded for the year. We recently awarded several walk-ons scholarships, but they obviously won't get renewed next year per limitations. We would not however, award them the scholarship then pull it once they've already been awarded it for a year.

Toussaint didn't walk out of the penitentiary after a year, which was suppose to be two, and start playing football at Michigan, as a walk-on or under scholarship.

The man is a convicted, time served, felon, with a parole officer. Clearly this wasn't a DUI, or definitely not his first

I don't know the man's name nor do I know many of the details. I know there were a lot of felonies attached to whatever he did in the article I read.
